Compétition d`orienteering à l’Arboretum Morgan

La pluie abondante qui est tombée avant l`évènement a rendu le sol très humide par endroits. Mais malgré une météo défavorable nous étions chanceux dimanche matin. Le temps était favorable, sans vent ni pluie jusqu`à l`après-midi. C`était une belle journée pour courir dans le plus grand arboretum du Canada.

Ce lieu demeure l`un des sites les plus populaires pour les évènements d`orientation. Il y a eu 128 “départs” pour une participation totale de 170 compétiteurs, y compris 8 enfants accompagnés de moins de 10 ans. Dans ce groupe il y avait un nombre considérable d`étudiants des CÉGEPs John Abbott et Vanier College.

Six parcours étaient établis, fournissant ainsi une gamme de difficulté allant de “Débutant” à “Avancé-Long”. Ce dernier parcours mesurait approximativement 9 km (en vol d`oiseau) et comprenait 21 balises.

Meilleurs résultats:

Dmitri Galovanov était le meilleur compétiteur de la journée, avec un temps de 1:26:22 pour le parcours “Avancé-long”. Patrice Gagnon était 2^ème en 1:33:30; Bruce Glen 3ème, avec une minute de retard derrière Patrice. Stephen Novosad aurait pu contesté la 3ème place, mais a perdu sa carte de contrôle quelquepart sur le parcours. 20 compétiteurs ont choisi ce parcours.

Michael Bole était premier sur le parcours “Avancé-court” sur 19 compétiteurs avec un temps de 1:03:47 pour 5,1km, suivi de Lars Gawell et Yvan Duchesne. Denise OBrian était la première femme sur ce parcours.

Les parcours 1 et 2 ont été complétés dans les deux sens (2-A et 2-B) pour permettre à un plus grand nombre de compétiteurs de participer.

Parcours 2: Stephen Novosad, et son fils de 8 ans, Tobin, étaient les premiers sur 2–A en 1:11:54. Will Prince de John Abbott a complété 2–B en 1:12:30. Cette combinaison de deux courses a été complété par 72 individus avec 57 départs.

Parcours 1: Le meilleurs temps sur 1-A était 0:34:54 pour Sonja Gates et Jason Cordrey, suivis de près par Raeann Rose et Bill Ludlow en 0:36:54. Le 1–B fut complété par les étudiants de Vanier College avec des temps de 1:05:20 et 1:05:50 pour A.Lam et V. Navneethan respectivement. Le temps moyen pour les deux parcours était de 75”, ce qui indique que la distance et le niveau de difficulté étaient justes.

Nos félicitations à tous ceux qui ont participé et merci à l’Arboretum Morgan pour nous avoir donné le droit de tenir cet évènement sur les lieux.
